Fishing with Western Chief

Summer is right around the corner. Before we know it, school will be out.

As children, we anxiously anticipate the coming of summer almost as much as Christmas morning. But even as we age out of the school system, there’s still something magical about this time of year. There’s so much to love and look forward to about summer; the long lazy days, crickets chirping on starry nights, lake days, fishing trips, Popsicles, the list goes on and on. It’s in the summer that we seem the most likely to make memories that we’ll hold on to for the rest of our lives. What are some of your favorite memories from past summers? I bet you have a few.

Do any of these fond moments include a hook and a lure? We hope so! In a busy world, we like that fishing reminds us of how fun and relaxing sitting on the edge of a dock can be. Nothing compares to the thrill of catching a fish but it’s not necessarily just about what you catch. These quieter moments with friends and family teach us patience and how to be still. The busy world will still be there when we return, but in the moment we are allowed to focus on the fishing pole, the river, and the conversation with our companions.

In between casting your fishing line, take time to explore the area, skip some rocks, and enjoy a picnic. And of course, don't forget to splash around a little in your Western Chief rain boots.
